prizes for teenagers from the mfg gambler's jam
if you're a teenager (13 to 18) and you make a game for the mfg gambler's jam, you can get a prize from hack club!
- hack club is a nonprofit for teenagers who build technical projects.
- jame gam is a community of teenagers into making games, hosted by hack club. every month we pick a game jam to enter together, and every teenager who makes a game gets a prize. this month, hack club is running a game jam with retrocrow and providing prizes for teenagers through jame gam.
here's what you need to be eligible:
- you're between the ages of 13 and 18, inclusive
- you made the game during the jam & for the jam
- your game follows the rules of the jam! this includes no generative ai
- your game needs to be open source! this usually means putting your game's source code on something like github.
- you put in effort! the bar to get a prize is low, but the point of jame gam is to reward teenagers for meaningfully improving at game development. for example, a game made purely by following a tutorial (with no additional changes) would not be rewarded
- if you're working on a team, this applies to your work specifically, not the game as a whole. if you work on a team, you should put enough work in that you could have made your own, smaller game in the same amount of time!
- you check the "i'm a teenager!" box when submitting, and enter your email
- you fill out the hack club submission form! you'll receive a link in your email after submitting on itch.io.
each person can only get one prize, even if you make more than one game!
what happens after the jam#
- the jam ends, on december 13th
- you fill out the form that you receive in your email
- we (hack club) review all the submissions! we have to hand-review a lot of submissions, so this part can take up to a month.
- once your game is approved, we'll email you a link to the prize shop! you'll have 1 week from that email to pick your prize
- you'll need to verify your identity with hack club before we can ship you your prize. you can do this at any time at auth.hackclub.com!
- we send you your prize!
if there's a problem with your game, we'll let you know via email.

is this legit?#
yes! hack club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 81-2908499), supported by partners like github, amd, nasa, futo, and proton, and our finances are public. we've run programs like this for years, including a bunch of game jams.
i'm not 13 to 18. can i still join?#
yes! however, while the jam is open to anyone, only those between the ages of 13-18 (inclusive) can receive prizes.
can i use ai for just the code?#
no!
can i reuse code or assets?#
asset packs, libraries, and code snippets are fine, as long as you credit everything you didn't make in your game's description. the game itself has to be made during the jam.
